Who is Bikez and Barbellz?
Doctor Downhill, Meme Queen, and leader in all things bikes and badassery
Arielle "Doctor Downhill" Miller
I want to thank you for being here and welcome you to the Bikezandbarbellz family. Truly, it means the world to have your support and interest in the work I am doing. But first, let me tell you a little about myself.
I initially found mountain biking as a means to complement my road bike and road racing career. When I started riding, I started on the road and vowed I would never ride dirt. However, wanting to feel more comfortable on my mountain bike, I decided on a whim after a few rides that I needed coaching and impulsively, booked a weekend mountain bike camp in Sedona. After just one weekend of coaching with Sedona Mountain Bike Academy, I was hooked and immediately returned to Los Angeles to buy my first full-suspension mountain bike. I attribute my time in Sedona as pivotal in igniting my love and curiosity, but above all, gave me the confidence to want to get out there - departing from fire road climbing on my hardtail, and start dabbling with single track.
Fast forward 2 years, and now, my primary focus and obsession is mountain biking, working on my skills, coaching, occasionally racing enduro and downhill [because why not?!], and spreading the stoke. While I enjoy working with athletes of all ages and levels, my desire to see young girls on bikes and the trails has led me to work with middle and high-school-aged female-identifying riders to give them the same support, skills, and confidence that were cultivated in me during that first weekend in Sedona. Similarly, as a master’s athlete myself, one who entered the world of cycling in my late 30s, I know firsthand how intimidating and overwhelming learning how to ride can be. This is why I feel compelled to work with master’s women helping them discover their power and capabilities on a mountain bike.
I hope that I can use my platform as a means to engage with others, build community, bring a smile to people’s faces, and above all - carve out more visibility for women of all ages and skill levels on bikes. I hope you will consider joining me on this journey and come out to a clinic or retreat. And if you aren’t able to do that, support the cause by rocking some BnB merch and/or stickering the world so we can continue to grow this sport together.
Thank you for being here. And never forget, YOU belong here. You have a place here and bikes are for every BODY.
Love your Meme Queen and leader in all things bikes and badassery,
Arielle
